"I believe that because of our size everyone on the job sees what is going on and may work on a number of functions during the course of an engagement. In a large firm this is not the case. On the tax side even the interns are thrown into what may be difficult work so they learn on the job and are not doing only simple returns."

"Since I have a young family, I like the fact that in the tax department we do not have to travel. We can outside of busy season if we want, but it is not a requirement. We have a lot of flexibility outside of busy season which is nice, but we also have some flexibility during busy season as well. For example, last busy season, I worked earlier in the mornings to be able to leave earlier in the evenings and rock my son to sleep. Many firms offer the summer flexibility and that is all. The opportunity for advancement here is much different than many firms. "I like the fact that DOZ is flexible. Last summer when I started studying for the CPA exam I asked to stay in town so that I could go to class and study. It was great not trying to study in a hotel room. However, if you want to travel, you can do that as well. You can actually put in a request to the cities you'd like to travel to. The people at DOZ also know how to have fun. For example, during busy season we competed in Office Olympics for 3 months to keep things lively, which was a definite boost to staffs' morale, in addition to the free lunches we got on Saturdays.
