2008 Internship Testimonials

"DOZ works mainly on very
small clients, but don’t let
that deceive you! Working
here allows you to see the
entire audit process that
working on Fortune 500
companies just can’t offer.
In fact, during my time here
I have completed about 30
audits from start to finish,
report and all. Not only
that, I took on an entire
client’s work all by
myself! From the first week
of the internship, you will
be thrown directly into the
line of fire, but the last
thing you need to worry
about is not having people
there to help. The culture
here allows you to walk into
anyone’s office and ask them
anything. There isn’t a
single time while I was here
where I came into contact
with someone who wasn’t
willing to help. After the
first few weeks, though, you
will have surpassed the
initial learning curve and
you will be completely
shocked at how fast the days
go! I could not have picked
a better internship!"

"Everyone at
DOZ is very friendly and
helpful! This made the work
easier and less stressful. The
positive feedback I received
from my supervisors let me know
that my work was appreciated;
the weekly written feedback
really helped me improve with
every assignment!"

"I had a
great experience as an audit
intern for DOZ ! I had the
chance to interact with not only
other interns and staff members,
but also managers, seniors and
even Partners. Everyone took
the time to make sure I
understood not only the basic
concepts of what I was doing,
but also the meaning behind why
things are done. I had the
opportunity to complete over
twenty audits on my own from
start to finish - - this is
something I thought would never
happen with me being only a
third year student at the start
of the internship! I was also
given the opportunity to travel
to Atlanta for a week to work
one on one with a client out of
their office. And it definitely
wasn’t all work at DOZ either!
Eating contests, relay races,
bozo buckets and more took place
at the office, as well as many
nights out with fellow interns
and staff members. The DOZ
experience as well as the
friends I made will stay with me
for many years to come."

"Coming to
DOZ and doing this internship
during busy season was a great
learning experience. You hear
about busy season and all of the
hours worked, but you never
really know what it is like
until you experience it. DOZ is
great with helping you apply
what was learned in the
classroom. All of the staff
that I have worked with were
more than willing to take the
time to help me understand a
work paper, or figure out an
issue I was having. This was a
great experience, and I would
encourage others to take this
opportunity if they have the
chance. The staff of this firm
makes DOZ a great place to
work!"

"The
internship experience at DOZ
will become one of the greatest
opportunities you could have
before starting a career! I
never thought a Spring
internship would be beneficial
because it is a semester away
from school and friends -- but
at DOZ - - it has been well
worth it! I have had the
opportunity to work with each
level of staff and obtain a
better understand of what the
field of accounting is really
like. In my three months at DOZ,
I completed approximately thirty
audits from start to finish - -
- and was able to do work on
many other audits and projects
during that time span. DOZ
asked that I put forth time and
effort to make this internship
whatever I wanted it to be, and
believe me, my work effort has
paid off - - - I have learned
so much! Having the opportunity
to travel to Atlanta and deal
with clients on a day to day
basis is an experience that will
definitely help me in my future
career."

"My work
experience at DOZ has exceeded
any expectations I had before
starting. First of all - -
there is the staff, who are
always more than willing to lend
a hand, and to a person, are
very understanding to issues
that new hires or interns may
face. It is a young and laid
back environment that is still
very hard working and
professional. There are also
many opportunities to develop
professionally with evaluation
meetings every other week.
Another unique aspect about DOZ
is that it is a niche market
firm with a national presence,
so there are opportunities to
travel all across the country.
For any young person interested in accounting, I
can’t imagine a better place to
start than DOZ!"

"During my
time at DOZ, I had the chance to
work on three different
clients. The first two were
both returning clients and the
third was a brand new client to
the firm. I traveled down to
Memphis with one of the Partners
for a week which was the
highlight of the internship. It
was great going out to dinner
every day and not paying for a
thing! Everyone at DOZ was easy
to get along with and you could
ask just about anyone a question
and receive a great explanation
on how to fix the situation.
DOZ was a great experience in
preparing audits and tax
returns!"

"My
internship at DOZ gave me a
fantastic opportunity to grow in
the accounting industry. Not
too many internship programs
will give you the ability to
experience what DOZ will allow
you to experience. As an intern
you are given full audits and
expected to complete them from
start to finish. This includes
compliance testing, completing
the actual audit and workpapers,
writing the reports, etc. When
you get stuck, the staff and
supervisors are more than
willing to help you and make
sure you learn throughout the
process. As an intern at DOZ
you are basically a staff
employee in the way you are
treated and the responsibilities
you are given. Sure - - you
will be required to complete the
typical intern jobs, but it is
kept to a minimum as everyone in
the firm pitches in to complete
those odd jobs! The internship
program at DOZ does not just let
you get your feet wet in the
accounting industry, as a DOZ
intern you are immersed in the
accounting industry. You will
not leave DOZ without getting a
sense of satisfaction and a
sense of accomplishment!

"My
internship at DOZ was a great
experience. I chose to do an
internship at DOZ because of the
people and the opportunities
available to me. Everyone at DOZ
made an effort to get to know me
from the first day I started
training. It made it easy to
come to work everyday when I
enjoyed working with everyone in
the office. The people I worked
with gave me challenging
assignments and they were always
willing to answer questions. I
was given a lot of
responsibility as an intern. I
began doing audits on my first
day and by the end of my
internship I had worked on every
part of an audit, from start to
finish - - 30 in total – all my
responsibility!…... Busy season
is a lot of hard work, but it’s
also a great learning experience
and a lot of fun!"

"Doing an
internship with DOZ has been one
of the best decisions of my
college career. In a little
more than three months, I was
able to experience my first busy
season, travel for two
out-of-state engagements, and
meet a ton of great people. As
far as the work goes, I was able
to work under several different
managers and experience each of
their unique strengths and
management styles. The broad
variety of work kept me
constantly on my toes as it
continued to challenge me and
gave me several opportunities to
use the skills and knowledge I
gained from my college
education. And the best part is
that I received an offer to
start fulltime right after I
graduate!"

"My
internship at DOZ provided me
with an environment in which I
was constantly learning and
being challenged while being
exposed to new and interesting
situations. I gained confidence
in my ability to learn and
master new skills along with
invaluable information about the
auditing process. My internship
allowed me to witness and
contribute to the entire
process, from the first stages
of planning to the final audit
report. The close interaction
with all staff levels not only
enhanced my learning, but it
also enabled me to develop close
friendships that created an
unforgettable internship
experience."

"I came into
this internship with little
experience in accounting and
learned more than I thought
possible in a few short months.
This experience will help me
greatly in my future classes and
in my career. I would do it
again in a heartbeat and if you
are looking for an experience to
learn about accounting, then DOZ
is the place for you"

"My
experience at DOZ was very
unique. I was hired onto the tax
staff, but trained in audit as
apart of the “Hybrid” team. Most
firms make you to choose between
tax and audit, but DOZ allowed
me to work from both sides. I
worked closely with the interns,
staff, seniors, and managers
providing a great team
environment. The ability to
have close interactions with
everyone at the firm makes DOZ a
great place to work."

"I was
looking for an internship that
would give me some idea of what
a career in public accounting
would entail. I definitely got
it. Not only have I learned a
tremendous amount about
accounting but I have acquired a
better understanding of the
career possibilities within the
field. Through my internship
I’ve gotten a clearer picture of
what my plans post-graduation
will be."

"My internship experience
with DOZ was very rewarding. I
was able to work on nearly 30
different audits, and completed
just over half of them by
myself. At first, I was worried
that I would not be able to meet
the high expectations that the
firm has for its interns. My
worries were eased as the
helpful and friendly staff was
always there to answer my
questions. The experience at DOZ
has taught me more than I could
learn in any classroom and has
prepared me for a demanding job
in the real world. Most of all,
I enjoyed working side by side
with some amazing people. The
work environment at DOZ is
unlike any other, and that is
what made my internship
experience so great."

"The
difference between DOZ and other
accounting firms is the level of
immersion into the profession.
As soon as training is over,
you’re tossed into the fire and
expected to begin completing
audits. I gained a lot of
experience and also had the
opportunity to spend a week in
North Carolina. The other
great thing about DOZ is the
people you work with. The
intern class was really close
and we spent a lot of time
together outside of work."

"I am
extremely grateful that I had
the opportunity to be an intern
at one of the top accounting
firms in Indianapolis. Over
the past three months at DOZ, I
have gained valuable real world
accounting experience that I
would not have been able to
learn just sitting in a college
classroom. Not only was I able
to complete my own compilations
and audits from start to finish,
I had the opportunity to travel
to different cities across the
United States and directly
interact with the clients. One
of the things that impressed me
most about the firm was the
amazing work atmosphere and how
the staff is always willing to
help each other. DOZ knew that
I was looking to move to the
city during my internship, and
the firm helped me find
appropriate living arrangements.
Most firms leave it up to the
individuals to find their own
accommodations, and the fact
that DOZ took the effort to help
me out lifted a huge burden off
of my shoulders. Throughout the
entire experience I not only
broadened my accounting
knowledge, but I also learned
more about myself and gained
confidence in my abilities. My
internship at DOZ was a once in
a lifetime opportunity where I
always felt like an asset to the
firm, and I was able to make
unforgettable memories!"

"My
internship at DOZ was an amazing
experience. At first the audits
were overwhelming, but every
level of staff at the firm was
very eager to help me understand
the process and answer any of my
questions. I was given the
opportunity to work directly for
one of the Partners on a brand
new project that was unlike any
other done before. I was also
given several opportunities to
write new reports that DOZ did
not prepare in the prior year.
These opportunities were
challenging, but educational and
very rewarding. I have developed
a much greater understanding of
financial statements that I know
will help me succeed back at
school and in my career. I
managed to complete 34 audits
from start to finish in just
three months and about 15 audits
that I helped others complete!"

"My
internship at DOZ was very
interesting. The people here
were very friendly, and I gained
a lot of experience. I worked
on the same project throughout
the internship, and I got the
chance to complete over 40
compilations, which I am sure I
wouldn’t have done if I went
somewhere else."

"My
internship at DOZ was one of the
best educational experiences I
have ever had. I would have
never learned as much as I did
if DOZ didn’t believe in their
employees. As an intern, they
put the same responsibilities on
me as they do to their full-time
staff. This allowed me to take
on a workload that I never
thought I was capable of taking
on and completing successfully.
The staff was extremely friendly
and accepting of all of the
interns. I felt like I was part
of the team within the first
week. I was also able to travel
to Atlanta, Virginia Beach, and
Los Angeles to complete audits.
I would have never had the great
experiences as a full-time staff
member if it weren’t for my
internship at DOZ."

"When
choosing the place I would start
my career after school, many
things went into consideration.
DOZ appealed to me because every
single person I talked to
throughout the interview process
had a positive attitude. I
wanted to be part of a company
that shared the same values as I
had and DOZ was a perfect fit.
DOZ also appealed to me because
of the opportunity to be part of
the “hybrid” team. I was having
a difficult time choosing
between audit and tax. DOZ was
starting to implement a new
concept of having a “hybrid”
team that would complete the
audit of a certain client and
then prepare the tax return for
the same client. I thought this
was a brilliant idea and wanted
to be a part of it. DOZ proved
to be the right choice for me as
I love what I do and enjoy the
people I work with."
