2007 Internship Testimonials

"The
internship experience at DOZ is unlike any other internship. As
an intern, you are thrown into the real world within the first
week of completing your training. This can be intimidating at
first! However, once you get comfortable with the structure of
the work papers and the audit process, you quickly take on more
responsibility. It is a great feeling and sense of satisfaction
knowing that you were the one who performed all of the
compliance, field work, and report writing, and completed the
final product that will be delivered to the client.
Experiencing the process from start to finish, being able to
communicate directly with the property owners and accounting
managers of the management companies, and the amount of
responsibility and autonomy given to me, made my internship at
DOZ one that I will always remember!"

"I
chose to come to DOZ because of the impressive opportunities
presented to me during the interview and recruiting processes.
The overall experiences that were presented to me made my
internship a success. I had the opportunity to work side by side
with every level of staff at the firm, from other interns all
the way to partners. It was a neat experience going to a client,
sitting next to a partner, having him ask me questions and then
having the opportunity to ask him questions. The ability to have
such close interactions with everyone at the firm made DOZ a
great place to do an accounting internship!"

"The
environment at DOZ was one of the best places for me to gain
experience in the auditing field. Being able to work on
differing aspects of auditing presented an opportunity to
develop a clearer understanding of the intricacies of the field.
I was able to work with people who were eager to lend a hand -
not just to help me finish a job, but to help me understand how
my work fits into the overall process. This experience
strengthened my belief that accounting is the right field for
me, as I found that I really enjoyed the hands-on experience DOZ
provided."

"Doing
an internship at DOZ was one of the best things I could have
done as a college student. I’m sure with other, larger firms I
would have only seen a smaller part of the accounting process.
But at DOZ, I was able to complete several audits from start to
finish. The advantages don’t stop there however, as the people
at DOZ are absolutely great. With me being from a small town in
Ohio, it was great to be able to have people to hang out with
outside of work and to experience the fun places in Indianapolis
with them. I suggest to anyone who is pursuing an accounting
internship to seek one at DOZ, you won’t regret it!"

"I
believe I took the best internship that I could have taken when
I signed on with DOZ. In my three months at DOZ I completed
almost thirty audits from start to finish. This amount for an
intern shocked my friend who works at a Top 10 accounting firm
in Indy. My friend commented that I was doing some work that no
less than a second year person at their firm would be assigned
to perform! That does not even include the audits that I helped
others complete! At DOZ, I was challenged to complete more work
than I thought I could handle and I was able to manage that
responsibility because the people at DOZ are very encouraging
and willing to help at anytime."

"Over
the course of my internship at DOZ, I developed lasting
relationships with fellow interns. Due to DOZ’s well developed
recruiting process, all the interns are responsible, hard
working young professionals. It is shocking how comfortable I
was with the intern class after only three months of working
together. DOZ provided great experiences by assigning
responsibility to interns, which caused us to rely on each other
to complete our assigned tasks and helped us build morale with
each other."

"My
internship with DOZ was everything I could possibly ask for. I
spent ten nights in Washington D.C. and had the opportunity to
sight see in the nation’s capital for the first time in my
life. I also escaped the frigid winter of the Midwest and spent
four nights in Los Angeles, where I dined on Rodeo Drive and
visited Santa Monica Pier. While visiting those two cities and
Atlanta for the first time, I gained hands-on experience with
auditing procedures and client interaction. I completed twenty
five audits in three months and fifteen were completed entirely
by me. This experience gave me a tremendous understanding of
financial statements that will be helpful throughout my career."

"My internship with DOZ was
everything I wanted and more. I gained lots of knowledge from
the many opportunities I was given. I never would’ve thought
I’d complete my first audit the third day on the job! Not only
were the opportunities amazing, but the people at DOZ are even
more amazing. Everybody at DOZ knows how to work hard, but we
also know how to have a great time. Whoever thinks accountants
are boring needs to come to DOZ and see how much fun we have
while at work! Whether it was the pie eating contest, office
relay race, or limbo contest, we always found time out of the
busy work week to have fun. I’ll never forget the Friday night
when about 20 of us from DOZ all went out to see “Hairbangers
Ball” at the Vogue in Broad Ripple!"

"When
I first started my internship at DOZ, I felt incredibly
overwhelmed and didn’t really know what to expect. The people at
DOZ were very helpful in answering my questions and making me
feel more at home, which is important when you’re working a lot
of hours during busy season. Not only was the experience
fantastic, but it was also very rewarding. I feel like I have a
much better understanding of how the public accounting world
really works, and I have learned so many new things in regards
to actually preparing tax returns. I’m sure the knowledge,
experience and friends I’ve gained during this internship will
be things that I will value for many years."

"Throughout
my internship with DOZ, I have had the opportunity to associate
with every member of the firm from the partners down to the
staff. Every member of the firm wants to see you succeed and
does everything in their power to lead you in that direction.
DOZ has an atmosphere very different than most accounting firms
- this atmosphere is very easy going and a truly great place to
work. During my internship, there was never a time when I woke
up and was not excited to go to work because everyday brought a
new challenge. An internship with DOZ is a rewarding experience
from the moment you start until the moment you leave."

"My
experience at DOZ was very unique. I had the opportunity to work
on one of DOZ’s biggest clients for two months. I worked closely
with a few of my co-workers and consequently became good friends
with them. I was given a lot of responsibility, was allowed to
work on my own, and completed forty compilations and an audit.
I’m convinced that nowhere else could I have gotten so much
experience and had so much fun doing accounting!"

"One
of my favorite parts of my DOZ internship was the travel.
During my internship I had the opportunity to travel to New York
City. This was an amazing experience for me because I had never
been there before. We worked hard during the day but at night
we got to see some of the incredible sites that New York City
has to offer. One night we went on top of the Empire State
Building and another night we went down to Times Square.
Traveling during busy season with DOZ is an amazing opportunity
that you can’t get anywhere else because of all the cities my
intern class visited during our internship."

"My internship at DOZ has been very
fun and educational. The training we received in the tax
department was outstanding. Before we even received a “real”
tax return to do, we had already done three or four practice
returns that were reviewed, so we knew what we needed to work
on. I also received excellent feedback from reviewers
throughout my internship. DOZ also made it a point to make
sure I was learning and understanding what I was doing instead
of just making sure things got done. I had some fun during my
internship too - the tax partner and principal’s doors were
always open, and we would come into their offices to have
conversations about anything and everything!."
